We tried Viagra about a week ago. We hoped, since the first try was successful, maybe we were onto something. We tried again last night. Sadly, we were not able to recreate that first time. The issue may be low blood pressure. Lion has been testing about once a day and it seems to be staying low.

Lion’s blood pressure was not low on Thursday. He had his first eye surgery. Well, we figured out it was his sixth surgery, if you count his cataracts. This one was on his left eye to fix the tube that was implanted about six years ago. I had no idea that the “skin” could wear away from the tube and cause a problem. It turns out the surgeon had to do more than cover the tube. He repositioned it. I assume that will take longer to heal and it probably hurt more.

Our house is not the easiest to get into. There are steps no matter which direction you come in. The front sidewalk seems easier to me, but it has no handrail. I almost fall down the garage stairs. Of course, I tend to go faster and don’t use the handrail. At any rate, Lion fell at the bottom of the stairs when we got home Thursday after the surgery. I got the Lion lift, and he was up in no time. I think he was more deeply under anesthesia than we realized. He got undressed, we ate a late lunch, and then snoozed for quite a while. By 9:30, he was ready to call it a night.

I figured this surgery would be easy on him. The other eye surgeries didn’t affect him as much. I was more worried about the right eye surgery. His left eye doesn’t contribute much to his vision. Once his right eye is bandaged, he’ll be blind at least until the bandage comes off the next morning. I was already trying to find a ramp that would work for the garage stairs when Lion told me I needed to build a ramp.

It’s been a long time since I’ve built anything that needed to be perfect. I built some steps at the other house that worked but weren’t pretty. I was not looking forward to building a ramp. Before I really got into pricing it out, I went back to look at ready-made ramps. Of course, you can spend thousands of dollars on a ramp. According to ADA requirements, our ramp should be 27 feet long. Yeah, right. That would almost make it to the garage door. After some research, I found that a twelve-foot ramp (more ideally, a 14-foot ramp) would work. Since it’s portable, we can take it with us when we move. It doesn’t have to be up all the time, although I suspect it will be. And it’s relatively cheap at less than a thousand dollars. Lion balked at the price, but I see it as peace of mind. I won’t worry so much about him on the stairs.

Tonight, we’ll give Edex another try. I assume low blood pressure won’t affect it. I’m not sure how it works, but if I were a weenie being poked with a needle, I think I’d send all blood rushing to the area, and that would make it swell. And I’m not even a chemist or a doctor.

Monday night, Mrs. Lion gave me an oral orgasm. The Edex worked pretty well. I love the feeling when I get hard. It’s hard to explain the almost magical way that my penis grows after the injection. It just gets hard on its own. I feel the arousal grow as it does, but I’m also aware that there’s no stimulation, just the magic of chemistry. I understood that I was going to get hard regardless of how I felt about it. Sure, I wanted it badly on Monday night, but I also became aware that if tied down and injected, I would get hard even if very uncomfortable.

These chemically produced erections can have different qualities. Edex is pure alprostadil. It’s chemically equivalent to Prostaglandin E1, the naturally occurring body chemical that relaxes the muscles and opens the vessels in the penis to allow erection. Sexual stimulation isn’t required. The resulting erection is usually about 80 percent as strong as the one produced by sexual stimulation. When Mrs. Lion goes to work on me, I quickly reach 100 percent.

The Edex isn’t as effective as I would like. My erection usually fades noticeably after I ejaculate. Of course, I don’t mind that since I’m done at that point. However, these erectile injections should keep me at 80 percent for at least an hour. My current reaction is a sign that the Edex (alprostadil) isn’t quite enough for me. I may need to go back to the Trimix (alprostadil plus two other stimulating drugs). The problem with that change is Trimix requires continuous refrigeration and loses potency about three months after the solution is made. The cost for us is about the same as Edex. We can get the particular version of Trimix that I need for about $130 for 4 ml.  My typical dose is about 0.4 ml, so I get ten boners per bottle. My copay for Edex is $200 for 18 boners. The Trimix is only slightly more expensive.

The reason I went from Trimix to Edex was that I was having trouble having orgasms with Trimix. I’m not sure why, but my urologist said that I could also go to Bimix (alprostadil plus one other drug) to see if that worked better for me. It’s the alprostadil that needs refrigeration and loses power once made into a liquid. Edex is a special 2-chamber injector that keeps the sterile saline separate from the freeze-dried alprostadil. The dry drug has a multi-year shelf life. It’s only when mixed into an injectable liquid that it becomes so perishable.

This is probably more than you ever wanted to know about boner injections. It’s good information to have. A lot of men suffer from ED, and most have no clue how many options are available. If you don’t need this information, great. Just be aware that if the need arises, there are many good ways to get help.

In an earlier post, Lion said it might be fun to be edged again. I guess with Edex he was fairly confident he could maintain his erection even through the starting and stopping of edging. It seems like a sound theory, so I decided to try it.

To be fair, we got the injection in the wrong spot. He said it hurt going in and that usually doesn’t happen. Normally, he springs to life like a diving board and that didn’t happen. He did get hard and stay hard, but we could tell something was off.

The first time I edged him, I don’t think he was very close. I kept going u til I was sure he was close and I stopped again. There was a tiny drop of precum. That’s a good sign, right? Not this time. My weenie was deflating. I tried for a while and it looked like he might be getting closer, but no luck. Lion suggested a blow job. I was game.

Even my magic mouth ministrations couldn’t revive him. I think he might have been able to get there if I hadn’t needed to stop. I was very achy all day, and my shoulders gave out.

We’re going to try again today. I’m not sure if I’ll edge him again or just go in for the kill. I know he’s horny. I had a theory that edging him might produce some cream filling. It hadn’t worked in the past, but I figured I’d try. Worst case, it doesn’t work again. Actually, the worst case is I edge him and can’t get him back. Of course, that means trying again tomorrow. How many days in a row can he inject Edex? I’d rather not have to find out. [Lion — Three days in a row is the limit. Then, we have to wait four days.]

By the way, Lion informed me of many local places, wax men. I’m sure there are. But then I’d have to take him there and wait. I might as well do it myself. Is that his sneaky way of getting me to wax him? Well, it worked. I’ll pull out the waxing cart and set it up. When will I do it? There’s a little matter of an orgasm to take care of, and then I can wax him the next day.

Information is starting to come out about my 2024 health insurance options. One very interesting change is that my coverage includes sexual dysfunction drugs for both men and women. My current (2023) plan covers Edex, but doesn’t cover generic Cialis or Viagra. The new plan covers both at a rate of six tablets a month. That’s in line with Edex, which is covered for six injections a month. The new plan also covers female libido improvement drugs.

This is a significant change. While good in every other area, my plan refused to cover sexual improvement drugs. I’m unsure what brought the change, but a good deal. Maybe there is a growing recognition that adults need sex for good health. Also, generic Viagra and Cialis are dirt cheap. You can get them with coupons from goodrx.com for pennies each. The Edex and the female libido drugs are expensive, brand-name products that are seriously discounted by my insurance.

Our discovery that Edex allows me to have orgasms while Trimix and Quadmix don’t, was an accident. My doctor prescribed the Edex for travel. Trimix requires constant refrigeration. Edex’s active ingredient is in freeze-dried powder form until just before injecting. The product comes in a special cartridge that has sterile saline in the bottom and the powder in a top compartment. Just before use, you press the plunger of the syringe just far enough to force the water into the top compartment. A few easy shakes, mixes the drug with the water, and it’s ready to go. In powder form, the drug is stable at normal room temperatures. I tried the Edex so that we could work out the correct dose. Now, we’re going to use the Edex all of the time.

The months of trial and error we have gone through have paid off. I’m very glad we kept trying. Mrs. Lion has different insurance than me. I wonder if her plan covers female libido improvement. She isn’t really interested in getting her libido back. Maybe it’s a relief to her not to have it. I selfishly want her to get it back. I miss being ridden by her. Now that we are both substantially thinner, lion riding should be easier. With my chemically-assisted boners, we can try other positions, too. Mrs. Lion used to enjoy anal sex.

Lion's erect penis

I was looking at the picture of me tied to the bed. It was on top of yesterday’s post. My erection looks very functional. I’m sure it would work well for any penetration Mrs. Lion might want to try. In the past, my inability to keep it up restricted us to cowgirl and reverse cowgirl positions. I’m pretty sure that Mrs. Lion prefers doggy (lion) style to her being on top. If I can interest her in some penetration, maybe we can go back to positions where I was on top. The possibilities are exciting.
